Susan Jager, LMFT
Psychotherapy
Welcome
We all face challenges, and it’s not always easy to ask for help. I’m glad you’re here.
Ongoing stress, emotional pain, or internal struggles can deeply affect our well-being and often, we try to manage alone, sometimes at the cost of the things and people we care about most.
Whether you’re navigating anxiety, grief, relationship issues, or unhelpful patterns of thought or behavior, therapy can offer support and insight. Together, we’ll work to help you feel more resilient, grounded, and empowered in your life.
Whatever brings you here is the right place to start. I offer a warm, safe, and nonjudgmental space where you can explore your experience and discover new ways of relating to yourself and the world around you.
I encourage you to reach out!
About Susan

I am passionate about supporting people in times of need and helping them to find more clarity, self-understanding and agency in their lives. I also feel quite grateful for the opportunity to do this meaningful work and be a part of the lives of my clients for whom
I have deep care and respect.
I currently train in IFS/Internal Family Systems, often referrred to as "parts work" and Somatic Experiencing, a body-oriented approach to healing trauma and other stress-related disorders. I am also trained in EMDR/Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing for trauma, DBT/Dialectical Behavior Therapy for alcohol and substance abuse, Mindfulness, and CBT/Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I hold a Masters Degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy and CBT/Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from the University of San Francisco. Some alternative pursuits to healing have included a Shaman journey in Peru, guided medicine journeys locally and in Costa Rica, equine (horse-assisted) leadership sessions, and Vipassana meditation. I enjoy hiking and exploring the outdoors of the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area.
I have over twenty years of experience in mental health and education, which prior to private practice, included crisis and suicide intervention, counseling children and teens with trauma, family crisis and dysfunction, social and learning issues and ADHD. Working with the emotional, cognitive, and developmental issues of children and their families has been invaluable to my therapeutic work with adults, as these earlier experiences can underlie so many adult struggles. As the youngest in a large family with generational histories of anxiety, depression and alcoholism, my experience has informed my foundational understanding of early attachment, coping and identity development within the family system, and how these influences can form our sense of self and safety within relationships and the world around us.
